One of National Geographic’s better productions – partly due to the interesting nature of the subject – partly due to the wonderful images of the eruption of Mt Unzen in Japan and the more well known eruption at Mt Pinatubo a few years ago. This specific program does well at showing viewers the overall geology, the types of eruption activity, and the much larger disaster mitigation trades. Throughout the movie, it is organized and presented.
To all the “sound and fury” of some of Hollywood’s recent forays in Volcano disaster movie – this one is the best “special effects” – it’s all real!
Some parents have said that this movie is not for the very young, as there are side of the disaster presented that may not be the best for children. (IE – someone dies). But all critics agree that this is one of the best and most informative documentaries on the topic ever made. If you like volcanoes, then this is definitely the movie for you.
It comes highly recommended, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Purchase it on Amazon and save!
